The season began on August 15, 2024, and culminated on December 9, 2024 with the 2024 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament, with the College Cup being held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. All Division I women's soccer programs were eligible to qualify for the tournament. 29 teams received automatic bids by winning their conference tournaments, 1 team received an automatic bid by claiming the conference regular season crown (West Coast Conference doesn't hold a conference tournament), and an additional 34 teams earned at-large bids based on their regular season records.
