This is a list of department stores and some other major retailers in the four major corridors of Downtown Los Angeles: Spring Street between Temple and Second ("heyday" from c.1884–1910); Broadway between 1st and 4th (c.1895-1915) and from 4th to 11th (c.1896-1950s); and Seventh Street between Broadway and Figueroa/Francisco, plus a block of Flower St. (c.1915 and after).
The store was founded in 2005 by Josh Spencer, the first incarnation being inside a Downtown Los Angeles loft. While here, the store sold books and other items online, then, in December 2009, it opened a bookstore at 4th and Main Street.
1953–1959: the store was a branch of Ohrbach's, opened November 30, 1953, promoted as Ohrbach's-Downtown; Broadway, Los Angeles store. It was located at the southwest corner of Fifth and Broadway. The company replaced the building with a new eight-story store completed in 1924.
