When celebrating birthdays I often put 3 or 4 personal sentences on the card specific to that individual. Usually I simply say what I like about them and tell them to keep being as they are, and wish them well in whatever endeavours. Consequently I often have people tell me it was the best birthday wish they got during the day.

The positives that I see still making sense with a greeting card are that LaTeX is FOSS, produces a PDF, and is quite compatible with version control.
