The Kruger National Park has a number of 'Bushveld' camps, [1] but these are strictly speaking in the lowveld, as these terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Although their limits are somewhat blurred, [ 2 ] lowveld is generally restricted to the more easterly parts of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Lake Mutirikwi, originally known as Lake Kyle or Kyle Dam, lies in south eastern Zimbabwe, south east of Masvingo.It is thought to have been named after Kyle Farm which occupied most of the land required for the lake, which in turn was named after the Kyle district in Scotland from which the pioneer of the Lowveld, Tom Murray MacDougall came originally.
Rusape river is the major feeding river to Rusape dam in the outskirts of Rusape town as well as to irrigate sugarcane and wheat estates in the Lowveld. [1] Stream bank cultivation and illegal sand abstraction is contributing to siltation of Rusape river which flows into the Rusape dam.
