When the GMT800-based Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon was released for the 2000 model year, a 2WD Tahoe Limited and 4WD Tahoe Z71 remained in production on the GMT400 platform as special edition vehicles. These vehicles were produced in the Arlington, Texas, assembly plant for the 2000 model year only.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is a battery electric full-size pickup truck, to go on sale in Fall 2023 as part of the 2024 model year. For 1989, the Z71 (Off-Road Chassis Package [25]) option was introduced for both Chevrolet and GMC. Exclusive to K1500s, the option package included skid plates for the engine, front axle, and transfer case along with heavy-duty Bilstein shock absorbers. [21] It was distinguished by the "Z71" bedside graphics and standard aluminum-alloy wheels.
Its SUV counterparts, the Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon, retained the use of the pre-facelift sheet metal (except Mexico). During the 2005 model year, all light-duty GMT800 pickups reverted to front disc/rear drum brakes as a cost-cutting measure; heavy-duty trucks and the SUVs retained their 4-wheel disc brakes.
