The district encompasses 109 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Covington. It developed between about 1830 and 1958, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival , Federal , Greek Revival , Italianate , Queen Anne , and Colonial Revival style architecture.
Covington is located in the west part of Fountain County along the Wabash River, where U.S. Route 136 crosses the river. Interstate 74 passes about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) to the south of the city. According to the 2010 census, Covington has a total area of 1.18 square miles (3.06 km 2), all land. [8]
The hotel opened in 1986 and is located on the boardwalk 0.3 miles from Resorts Casino Hotel. The building was constructed by United States Capital Corporation who also owned the Enclave at the time. [1] It was previously owned by private hospitality company, FantaSea Resorts which also owns Flagship Resort and La Sammana. [3]

Covington Community School Corporation (western Fountain County) – served 1,012 students during 2009–2010. It runs Covington Elementary, Covington Middle, and Covington High Schools. Southeast Fountain School Corporation (eastern Fountain County) – served 1,279 students during 2009–2010.
