"A Dream" is a poem by English poet William Blake. The poem was first published in 1789 as part of Blake's collection of poems entitled Songs of Innocence . The dream, which forms the subject of the poem, is prompted by events in their waking life that are referred to early in the poem. The ‘vision’ addresses these waking concerns through the possibilities of the imaginative landscapes offered by the dream-state.
The poem was published in Hughes's book Montage of a Dream Deferred in 1951. [4] The book includes over ninety poems [5] that are divided into five sections.
