A zombie walk is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes. Participants usually meet in an urban center and make their way around the city streets and public spaces (or a series of taverns in the case of a zombie pub crawl) in an orderly fashion.
A variation of the zombie walk is the zombie run. Here participants do a 5 km run wearing a belt with several flag "lives". If the chasing zombies capture all of the flags, the runner becomes "infected". If he or she reaches the finish line, which may involve wide detours ahead of the zombies, then the participant is a "survivor".

The Asheville Zombie Walk started in October 2006 as a flash mob. [1] Several hundred participants gathered in a cemetery in Asheville, North Carolina following prompts from MySpace and flyers. Throughout the years, the walk grew into the family-friendly Ashtoberfest, a program featuring additional events like zombie -themed bands and games.
The Louisville Zombie Attack, which started on August 29, 2005, as a flash mob, is a public event in Louisville, Kentucky held annually in August. Before 2016, it had been held on August 29 at 8:29 p.m., but the 2016 event was moved to August 27 (which fell on a Saturday that year) at the same time and rebranded as the "Louisville Zombie Walk".
