The BMW S1000R is a naked motorcycle [1] manufactured by BMW Motorrad since 2014. It is based upon the S1000RR superbike with which it shares its engine, gearbox, frame and suspension. [ 2 ]
BMW S1000RR is a race oriented sport bike initially made by BMW Motorrad to compete in the 2009 Superbike World Championship, [1] that is now in commercial production. It was introduced in Munich in April 2008, [2] and is powered by a 999 cc (61.0 cu in) transverse inline four-cylinder engine redlined at 14,200 rpm.
Most of the current motorcycles in BMW Motorrad's range were designed by David Robb, who was the company's chief designer from 1993 to 2012 when he was replaced by Edgar Heinrich. [7] [8] [9] The most popular model is the R1200GS and its sibling R1200GS Adventure, which sold 24,467 units – accounting for 28% of BMW's annual production. [10]
Incorporated into the 2024 season is a lesser-class of machine, entitled 'Pathway', to be run concurrently within the same scheduled events. The aim is to allow new participants to enter at a reduced cost with a machine closer in specification to Superstock 1000. Trials were held within some races during the 2023 season. [2]
The BMW S1000XR is a sport touring [1] motorcycle produced by BMW Motorrad since 2015. The all-rounder [ 5 ] motorcycle was presented on 4 November 2014 at the EICMA , Milan , Italy. The partially faired motorcycle is technically based on the S1000R naked bike and is marketed by the manufacturer as an "Adventure Sport Bike". [ 6 ]
He races in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. He has a reputation for being at his best in wet conditions and his favourite circuit is Oulton Park . He won 29 British Superbike Championship races with the most recent being at Silverstone in 2010, and finished as series runner-up twice.
Later variants of the 1,000 cc models included the BMW R 100T ("Touring"), the BMW R 100 RT and BMW R 100CS ("Classic Sport").
