An idle air control actuator or idle air control valve (IAC actuator/valve) is a device commonly used in fuel-injected vehicles to control the engine's idling rotational speed . [1] In carburetted vehicles a similar device known as an idle speed control actuator is used.
Blow-by, as it is often called, is the result of combustion material from the combustion chamber "blowing" past the piston rings and into the crankcase. These blow-by gases, if not ventilated, inevitably condense and combine with the oil vapor present in the crankcase, forming oil sludge.
A second generation of the LT5 was in the testing phase as early as 1993. What little information survived showed that it would have used a dual plenum system similar to the first generation Dodge Viper as well as variable valve timing. The next generation LT5 was set to produce between 450 hp (336 kW) and 475 hp (354 kW).
Internal combustion engine cooling uses either air or liquid to remove the waste heat from an internal combustion engine. For small or special purpose engines, cooling using air from the atmosphere makes for a lightweight and relatively simple system.
1.5 L (1,493 cc or 91.1 cu in) I3, with a single overhead camshaft, four valves-per-cylinder, and common-rail direct fuel injection. This engine was designed in 1998 with the related 4-cylinder variant R 420 SOHC.
It was used by Mercury Marine, named the Mercruiser 7.4 MPI and later Mercruiser 7.4 Mag. Mercury also adopted the 8.1L engine L29 applications: 1996–2000 Chevrolet C/K / GMC Sierra 2500, 3500, and C3500HD (above 8,500 pounds GVWR) 1996–1999 Chevrolet/GMC Suburban 2500; 1996–2000 Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana 3500; Mercury Marine Inboard
The test piece is attached in series with the pump and measuring element and air is pumped through the whole system. Therefore, all the air passing through the metering element also passes through the test piece. Because the volumetric flow rate through the metering element is known and the flow through the test piece is the same, it is also known.
From its start as an Indy Car engineering and trackside support group Ilmor, Inc.’s capabilities have grown to encompass design and analysis tools, engine and sub-systems test capabilities – including emissions compliance benches, precision manufacturing, electronics and wiring design and manufacture, and facilities for service and support.
