Steve & Barry's store, a former Mervyn's, at West Oaks Mall, Houston, Texas, demolished in 2011 for Edwards Theaters which is now closed. Founded by Steven Shore and Barry Prevor at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 while Prevor was an undergraduate student, Steve & Barry's became a local popular destination due to its low prices compared to other university bookstores and gift stores.
The store closed in 2020. This mall was built by Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. and opened in April 1974, supplanting Eastgate Shopping Center three miles to the west, which had opened 1957. JCPenney , Sears , and many prime tenants made the move from Eastgate to Washington Square.
In 2007, Federated Department Stores became Macy's Group Inc. and rebranded all of the Lazarus stores, including the Kingsdale location, as Macy's.
