The Blood Run Site is an archaeological site on the border of the US states of Iowa and South Dakota.The site was essentially populated for 8,500 years, within which earthworks structures were built by the Oneota Culture and occupied by descendant tribes such as the Ioway, Otoe, Missouri, and shared with Quapaw and later Kansa, Osage, and Omaha (who were both Omaha and Ponca at the time) people.
A concrete slab bridge was constructed over Bloody Run 0.7 miles (1.1 km) west of Elk Grove in 1937. It is 21.0 feet (6.4 m) long and carries State Route 2003. [9] In 1934, a Civilian Conservation Corps opened 5 miles (8.0 km) west of the village of Central, on West Branch Fishing Creek between Bloody Run and Painter Run. [10]

Between June 2010 and April 2011, the water temperature of Big Run was measured four times during a study of the Fishing Creek watershed. The highest temperature, 59.0 °F (15.0 °C) occurred on June 18, 2010 and the second-highest temperature, 41.1 °F (5.1 °C), occurred on November 13, 2010.

The stream then turns south for a similar distance before turning southeast again and exiting the valley. It crosses Fishing Creek Road and a short distance later, reaches its confluence with West Branch Fishing Creek. [1] Laurel Run joins West Branch Fishing Creek 8.54 miles (13.74 km) upstream of its mouth. [2]
