ExecuStay was founded in 1987 and was one of the first corporate housing providers to offer its stock for sale to the public in August 1997. ExecuStay Corporation was purchased by Marriott International in 1999, and was renamed ExecuStay by Marriott. [1]
Love sold the property in 1971, and the grand hotel slowly deteriorated. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1991, and the property was purchased for economic development in 1993. The Sun-n-Sand Motor Hotel, located at 401 North Lamar Street, [7] was opened in 1960 by Dumas Milner, a Mississippi businessman, [8] [3] [9] who named the motel after another one that he owned in Biloxi, Mississippi. [2] [10] In addition to the Sun-n-Sand properties, Milner also owned and operated the King Edward Hotel in Jackson. [5]
