The Quadiriki Caves, also spelled as Guadirikiri Caves or Quadirikiri Cave, are situated in Arikok National Park on the island of Aruba. These caves, located at the base of a limestone terrace, contain Amerindian petroglyphs. The name of the caves originates from the Arawak language. The largest cave extends approximately 150 m (490 ft).
Arikok National Park, covering 7,907 acres (32 km 2) in the northeastern region of Aruba, was officially established in 2000.Approximately 20% of Aruba's total land area is designated as a National Park, dedicated to safeguarding the park's biodiversity, geological formations and historical and cultural significance.
The caves of Aruba, located on the windward side within the Arikok National Park, comprise notable formations such as Quadirikiri Cave, Fontein Cave, and Huliba Cave. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] These subterranean environments serve as habitats for a variety of nocturnal bats, including insectivores and frugivores .
Aruba rattlesnakes are found in a range of elevations, from sea level 2 m (6.6 ft) up to the top of Jamanota, but they are most commonly found in the diabase hills and terraced limestone plateau. In contrast, there are no historical records or local reports suggesting that rattlesnakes have occupied the western side of the island. [ 17 ]
