Fate is a city located in the center of Rockwall County, Texas, United States. The population in 2020 was 17,958, an increase from 6,357 in 2010, and 602 in 2000. In 2022, Fate's population was estimated to have grown to just under 23,000.
The highway continues to the north through Rockwall along Goliad Street. Near the town square, SH 205 runs along a pair of one-way streets with northbound traffic traveling on Goliad Street and southbound on Alamo Road, intersecting SH 66 in downtown. Leaving the downtown Rockwall area, the highway becomes a two-way road again.
