This is a list of girl groups of all musical genres. Girl groups are musical groups that only contain female vocalists. This is distinct from all-female bands , wherein the members themselves perform the instrumental components of the music (see List of all-female bands ).
The Jeogori Sisters and The Kim Sisters have been noted as the origins of South Korean girl groups, the latter being the first South Korean group to succeed in the United States.
