The church is now open to the public, and run by a team of volunteers. Stonehaven is the site of prehistoric events evidenced by finds at Fetteresso Castle and Neolithic pottery excavations from the Spurryhillock area. [5] In 2004, archaeological work by CFA Archaeology, in advance of the building of the Aberdeen to Lochside Natural Gas Pipeline, found two short cists burials containing cremated remains to the southwest of Stonehaven.

Catterline Harbour, the village was a fishing centre in the 19th century. Catterline is a coastal village on the North Sea in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. [1] It is situated about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Stonehaven; nearby to the north are Dunnottar Castle and Fowlsheugh Nature Reserve.
