The current station building was built for Whistler Rail Tours (former operators of the Whistler Sea to Sky Climb) in 2007. [2] [3] During the 2010 Winter Olympics, a special Rocky Mountaineer train sponsored by the government of the neighbouring province of Alberta served as public transit between Vancouver and Whistler. The station is served by Via Rail's The Canadian and is the eastern terminus for the Via Rail's Jasper – Prince Rupert train. The Rocky Mountaineer company trains such as the Journey through the Clouds use the station as a terminus, these trains continue to Quesnel railway station.
