Meerut (Hindi pronunciation: [ˈmeːɾʌʈʰ], ISO: Mēraṭha) is a city in the western region of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.Located in the Meerut district, the city is 80 km (50 mi) northeast of the national capital New Delhi, and is 480 km (300 mi) west of the state capital, Lucknow. [8]
