The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IIT-M) is a public technical university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the eight public Institutes of Eminence of India. As an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), IIT Madras is also recognised as an Institute of National Importance .
IIT Madras was established in 1959. [1] The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Madras has offered management education as an M. Tech. (Industrial Engineering) since 1959. The department started the MBA in 2001. The Department of Management Studies came into existence in April 2004.

Narayanan Chandrakumar (born 25 November 1951) is an Indian chemical physicist and a professor of chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. [1] He was the founder of the first Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) laboratory in India and is known for developing a new technique for NMR imaging and diffusion measurement. [2]
