The lining of paintings is a process of conservation science and art restoration used to strengthen, flatten or consolidate oil or tempera paintings on canvas by attaching a new support to the back of the existing one. The process is sometimes referred to as relining.
It is created by stacking multiple layers of glass cloth, soaked in epoxy resin, then compressing the resulting material under heat until the epoxy cures. [2] [3] It is manufactured in flat sheets, most often a few millimeters thick. G-10 is very similar to Micarta and carbon fiber laminates, except that glass cloth is used as filler material.

Perspex has been used as a surface to paint on, for example by Salvador Dalí. Diasec is a process which uses acrylic glass as a substitute for normal glass in picture frames.
For glass objects that are not window glass, the most common way of cleaning is by water if the glass object is intact and not super fragile. The Victoria and Albert Museum provides guidance about how to go about this way of cleaning. [4] The methods of cleaning may differ if the glass is already damaged, extremely thin or fragile, or very old.
