AC/DC were formed in the Australian pop music scene of the early to mid-1970s, [1] which is described as the third wave of rock music. [2] Many local 1960s artists – e.g., the Easybeats and the Masters Apprentices, had attempted to gain international recognition but achieved limited commercial success overseas and disbanded after returning to Australia.
Another fan favorite from the album is "Ride On". Atypically for an AC/DC song, it has a sad, slow blues feel and features Bon Scott's reflective lyrics and restrained, soulful delivery. The lyrics concern a man remembering the mistakes he has made in a relationship while drinking. It has frequently been cited as one of AC/DC's best songs.
AC/DC were still developing its sound when High Voltage was recorded in November 1974, and singer Bon Scott and the Young brothers were backed by a rhythm section different from the Mark Evans/Phil Rudd combination, which would feature on their next three full-length studio recordings.
In December 1975, Atlantic Records' UK head Phil Carson signed AC/DC to a worldwide deal. The group's first two albums, High Voltage and the harder driving T.N.T., had been hits in their native Australia – the single "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" peaked at #5 – and now plans were made for the band to tour England in 1976.
'74 Jailbreak is the only EP by Australian rock band AC/DC, released in 1984.It is composed of five tracks that had previously been released only in Australia.
