Bruhathkayosaurus (/ bruːˌhæθkeɪoʊˈsɔːrəs /; meaning "huge-bodied lizard") is a controversial genus of sauropod dinosaur found in the Kallamedu Formation of India. The fragmentary remains were originally described as a theropod, but it was later determined to be a titanosaurian sauropod.
The huge femur (incorrectly) assigned to Bruhathkayosaurus matleyi is indeed a huge sauropod but needs to be defined as a new genus (the author suggests "Fangorn"). The size estimations coming from the huge femur now lost are valid and suggest a 110-170 metric tonnes animal of length 38-48 meters.
In 1987, authors P. Yadagiri and K. Ayyasami described a giant dinosaur, Bruhathkayosaurus matleyi, from the Late Cretaceous beds of the Cauvery Basin, India.
In 1987, authors P. Yadagiri and K. Ayyasami described a giant dinosaur, Bruhathkayosaurus matleyi, from the Late Cretaceous beds of the Cauvery Basin, India. Unfortunately, the fossil remains of this giant had disintegrated into dust before they reached the repository, making B. matleyi a dubious species.
Bruhathkayosaurus, a dinosaur that may have been as big or even bigger than Argentinosaurus, was only known from limb, hip, and tail elements, and those fossils disappeared (much like the...

Bruhathkayosaurus matleyi - probably the heaviest dinosaur that has ever walked on our planet. A herbivorous giant whose existence is often questioned.

In the late 1980s fragmentary postcranial remains from the Kallamedu Formation in Tamil Nadu, southern India, were described by Indian paleontologists P. Yadagiri and Krishnan Ayyasami as a new genus and species of carnosaurian theropod, Bruhathkayosaurus matleyi, in a paper published in 1987.
