The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) houses approximately 8,000 incarcerated individuals in nine state-owned prisons and five community reentry centers. Some are also held in county jails and when necessary, out-of-state contract facilities.
Visitors may contact facility visiting staff at all facilities to confirm resident housing locations and corresponding visiting schedules or use our resident/client search tool. Staff may search any item or any visitor entering the visiting area to enforce Idaho Code 18-2510.

NICI is a former military radar station north of the small town of Cottonwood. This facility is a program-specific prison with an operating capacity of 428 male residents. NICI primarily houses residents sentenced under a retained jurisdiction sentence.
ISCI is a 1,446-bed, medium-security men's prison south of Boise. Its reception and diagnostic unit (RDU) serves as the entry point for all men entering Idaho's prison system. The facility also has a medical unit and workspace for Correctional Industries' programs.
Death Row. We currently have nine residents under the sentence of death in Idaho. The eight male residents are incarcerated at Idaho Maximum Security Institution south of Boise and the one female resident is incarcerated at Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center in Pocatello.
