"The World Needs a Melody" is a song written by Red Lane, Johnny Slate and Larry Henley and originally recorded by The Carter Family together with Johnny Cash. It is part of the 1972 Carter Family album Travelin' Minstrel Band .
Composed by Frank Farian and Italian couple Giorgio & Gisela [1] Sgarbi, the song consisted of an uptempo rock part "We Kill the World" and a ballad part "Don't Kill the World", led by Brian Paul. He was a young boy who together with his friend Brian Sletten eventually sang all of the children's vocals themselves.
The song played over footage of a couple getting married and just starting out. In the song, direct reference to the bank was left out, in part to make the song more marketable. The commercial turned out to be very popular, but it attracted customers in which the bank was not interested: young adult customers with no collateral for loans.
