University Hospital Wishaw (formerly known as Wishaw General Hospital) is a district general hospital in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, situated between the areas of Craigneuk to the north and Netherton to the south. The hospital, managed by NHS Lanarkshire, is 11 miles (18 kilometres) southeast of Glasgow.
There are three district general hospitals in the area - University Hospital Hairmyres, University Hospital Monklands and University Hospital Wishaw. Each of them has an accident and emergency department and provides a range of specialist medical and surgical services. Maternity and paediatric services are based at University Hospital Wishaw.

Craigneuk has one primary school, the non-denominational Berryhill Primary School. The original Berryhill Primary School was located on the land now occupied by Wishaw General Hospital, but the school was demolished due to mining subsidence and rebuilt in its current location on Hillcrest Avenue in the early 1970s.

The hospital was built as a poor law hospital in the 1870s. [1] It became an infectious diseases hospital in 1892 and a maternity hospital in 1917. [1] An early obstetric flying squad was established at the hospital in the 1930s. [2] It joined the National Health Service in 1948. [3]
