Loop 315 was designated on November 21, 1956, from US 69 near Peniel south to US 67 southwest of Greenville. On November 30, 1961, the road was extended east over old US 67 to I-30, and southeast to US 69 on October 13, 1971. On May 21, 1979, Loop 315 was routed over US 69 while the old route of Loop 315 was transferred to US 69.
