The Aberdeenshire West constituency is an affluent rural constituency located along the western side of the Aberdeenshire council area. To the south of the constituency is Royal Deeside, located along the Valleys of the River Dee, which includes the affluent towns of Aboyne and Banchory and their surrounding rural areas.
In 1868, the constituency of Aberdeenshire was divided into Aberdeenshire Eastern and Aberdeenshire Western divisions. The constituency was created for 2011 Scottish Parliament election, and combines most of the former Aberdeen South seat along with part of Aberdeenshire that was formerly in Aberdeenshire West. [2] It has been held by Audrey Nicoll of the Scottish National Party since the 2021 Scottish Parliament election .
The Holyrood constituency covered a southern portion of the Aberdeenshire council area. The rest of the Aberdeenshire area was covered by two other constituencies, both also in the North East Scotland electoral region: Gordon was to the north of the West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine constituency, and Banff and Buchan was further north.
The constituency covers parts of both Aberdeenshire and Moray. It is one of the five constituencies covering Aberdeenshire in the Scottish Parliament, alongside Aberdeenshire East, Aberdeenshire West, Aberdeen South and North Kincardine and Angus North and Mearns. The rest of Moray is represented by the Moray constituency.

Kennethmont (archaically Kinnethmont, [1] or Kirkhill of Kennethmont [2]) is a village in the Marr area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, approximately 8 miles (13 km) south of Huntly. It has a population of approximately 470 people. [3] Kennethmont children attend Kennethmont Primary School [4] and the Gordon Schools, Huntly.
