Operation Gallant Phoenix (OGP) is an intelligence fusion centre established in 2013 near Amman, Jordan. It comprises a large number of countries and includes a variety of agencies, including law enforcement, military and civilian personnel, about a total of 250 personnel monitoring. [1]
By 1948, Jordan began forming a small air unit known as the Arab Legion Air Force (ALAF), with assistance from the RAF in terms of training and equipment. The ALAF's primary fighter aircraft was the de Havilland Vampire , a British jet fighter, and a Vickers VC.1 Viking was used as a VIP transport for the King of Jordan.
In 1976, the area was chosen by the Royal Jordanian Air Force for a major new air base. Construction started that same year and in November 1980, No 1 (Northrop F-5A/B Freedom Fighter) and No 11 Squadrons (F-5E/F Tiger II) were deployed there. The air base was officially opened on 24 May 1981.
