Calculate X% of their total and Tell them the Dollar amount theyd be saving. Or say like "hey! If you wanted to save an extra $50 off this purchase by signing up for the old navy credit card, it's a sign on bonus we're running today" - I personally found luck telling people the actual $$$ that theyd save if they open up a card.

While on my trip, I spent $1,397.96 on that credit card, and I paid $400 of that on 5/4 (153.88 was due on 5/5 for my payment).
