Our Lady of La Salette (French: Notre-Dame de La Salette) is a Marian apparition reported by two French children, Maximin Giraud and Mélanie Calvat, to have occurred at La Salette-Fallavaux, France, in 1846. On 19 September 1851, the local bishop formally approved the public devotion and prayers to Our Lady of La Salette.
A small clay church had been established by French priest Father Dupuy prior to 1900. At the start of the century the missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette arrived in Antsirabe and in 1908 built a church that was 22 meters long, 16 meters wide, 8 meters high, with a bell tower 14 meters high.
The church is home parish, established June 18, 1957 with the decree of the Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara "Neminem quidem fugit", and entrusted to the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, who are its owners. It also is home to the "cardinal's title Our Lady of La Salette", founded by Pope Paul VI April 29, 1969.
