New Carlisle (/ ˈ n uː k ɑːr ˈ l aɪ əl / NEW kar-LY-əl [4]) is a city in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,559 at the 2020 census . It is part of the Springfield, Ohio metropolitan area .
The building was New Carlisle High School from 1921–1952, but actually housed grades K–12. After sitting empty for over forty years and several failed plans for use, the building was demolished in July of 2021. [6] New Carlisle Middle School – 1966; demolished 2007. The building was New Carlisle Junior High from 1966–1981.
The unit designation is OH-881. (OH for Ohio, 88 for the year, and 1 because it was the first and only unit created in the state that year) Wesley R. Williams, Staff Sergeant, United States Army, became the first alumnus of the school's JROTC program to be killed in combat on December 10, 2012.

The News-Herald began as the Willoughby Independent on April 18, 1879, was renamed Willoughby Republican in 1920, and became the Lake County News-Herald in 1935. Its offices moved from downtown Willoughby to 38879 Mentor Avenue (U.S. Route 20) in 1950, then to its current location, 7085 Mentor Avenue, adjacent to Mentor, after 1973. [2]
