In 1964, the Gospel Music Association was established, which in turn began the Dove Awards (in 1969) and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame (in 1972). His career began in 1990 when he signed a staff songwriting deal with Lorenz Creative Services (which was soon purchased and became the gospel division of BMG Music Publishing.) He was a staff writer for BMG for seven years while also serving as Minister of Youth/Music at Westwood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN.
Lister was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame in 1976 and into the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall Of Fame in 1997. The Dove Brothers released a project titled A Tribute To Mosie Lister in 2004, which Lister also produced. [4] He died on February 12, 2015, aged 93. [6] [7]
