Also, I would recommend applying to AIM at the Coast Guard Academy. I did it virtually, but I know some people who did it in-person and they said that it was a lot closer to the "academy experience" than NASS.

If you are not selected, however, please do not feel that you will not be competitive for an USCGA appointment in your senior year.
Acceptance to Summer Seminar is not a rack-and-stack process based purely on merit. Some very strong candidates attend, as do some not-so-strong candidates. Candidates from under-represented groups — could be a geographic region, an ethnic group, a socio-economic group — seem to be accepted to Summer Seminar at a disproportionate rate.
It's a great way to get a feel for swab summer and the larger academy, but honestly you'll learn more about being a student if you go to a Bear's Day campus visit. USAFA/RRS says "We don't track summer seminar as it's not an admission-related program." Decades ago it was, but no longer. As folks above said; put it on your list and be able to tell how it impacted you, your desires for USAFA, etc. Steve USAFA ALO
Hi Academy Parents, My son is a Junior in High School. He wants to attend a Service Academy but isn't sure about which branch. I am looking at the Summer Programs for: Naval Academy; Coast Guard Academy ; Air Force Academy; I think it would be good for him to attend a week at each academy, to figure out which really feels right.
Jan 6, 2020. #11. 1) I just attended USAFA's Summer Seminar this past summer but one of my roommates attended AF, Navy, and Coast Guard summer seminars, each the week after another and he did just fine. Other people in my element also went to the Naval Academy Summer Seminar the week before AF and handled it pretty well.

All are the "local" liason during your journey of applying to a service academy. They are a valuable link between you and the Academy and the admissions process.
