Crater Lake is located in Southern Oregon on the crest of the Cascade Mountain range, 100 miles (160 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. It lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, created when the 12,000 foot (3,660 meter) high Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption.

There are two lodging options in the park, Crater Lake Lodge and The Cabins at Mazama Village. Both are managed by the concessions operator, ExplorCraterLake. Cabin, room and lodge amenities, current prices, and availability are found on the ExploreCraterLake website.
If you visit twice in 12 months purchasing the park's annual pass will save you money. It is valid at Crater Lake National Park as well as Lava Beds National Monument, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
