The Air Force Memorial uses architectural design, inscriptions and sculpture to represent the Air Force heritage including those intrepid pioneers in early flight balloon reconnaissance and the advent of manned flight in air and space. The Air Force Memorial is free and open to the public.

More than 90 United States Air Force Honor Guardsmen participated in the practice ceremonies that will take place at the memorial throughout the year. Members of the United States Air Force Honor Guard practiced the wreath laying and arrival ceremonies Feb. 10 at the National Air Force Memorial.
AF Memorial Flag Flying Program. The Air Force Memorial staff has the privilege to support requests to fly United States or United States Air Force flags on the main flagpole of the Memorial. Flags are flown Monday - Friday, with the exception of Federal Holidays.
