crab boil turkey brine - yes, another turkey thread. I am going to brine the fried one in crab boil to spice it up a bit, but I have no idea how much to add for a 18-20 hour brine. I originally bought a bag of the Louisiana powdered boil, but then thought I might do better with the liquid, so I bought a bottle of that.
Don't know the origin of your turkey but it may come "pre-loaded" with enhancements. Not sure you will gain much with brining if that's the case. You may want to treat the turkey like a spatchcock chix-quick cook (around 90-100mins indirect at 350-400*F on the dome).

So I went no brine this Saturday, I had a 14.9 lb bird, coated in olive oil, Lawrys seasoned salt and parsley, injected with creole butter and stuffed with 1 onion quartered, and it may have been the best Turkey I have ever had.

I was thinking of doing Alton Brown's Honey Brined Smoked Turkey on the egg for Thanksgiving, but noticed the turkey that i have says that it contains an 8% of solution, but has no msg etc. Will it still be okay to go as planned, or will i end up with a Turkey that tastes more like salt ...
Thanksgiving Turkey- Brine or Inject? XLBalco Posts: 607. October 2012. Any opinions here? I know alot of people Brine but I didnt see too many injecting. Havent done one on the egg and was going to experiment. FIgured the brine wouldnt be a big deal but was more interested in those that inject.
lets say i make up 2 gallons of brine. i use a home depot paint bucket to soak a turkey in overnight. when i remove the turkey, i put the bucket back in the fridge to keep it cold.
