  2. How to remove Polyblend GroutRenew - John Bridge

It took me about 3 hours to complete a 12 X 4 area using a toothbrush and cleaning along the way. In some places, the grout lines are almost 3/4 inches wide... others much narrower. Due to size of project and labor intensity of Renew application, I need to rethink this project.

I'm trying to get organized ahead of time in the event that I need to stain a backsplash. I can get Polyblend Grout Renewal from Home Depot (the grout used was Polyblend sanded) but I have zero feedback on the stuff. The other option is Aquamix Colorant from a place online - but for some reason it takes a full 2 weeks just to begin to ship.

I stumbled across Polyblend Grout Renew and convinced myself that this product was the answer to all my grout problems. I believed that once my grout was cleaned I could apply the "renew" as a weekend project and have "new" grout. Wrong! After numerous trips to get the right color, I began application.

  6. Does POLYBLEND Grout Require Sealing - John Bridge

Posts: 281. Polymer in grout will reduce the water absorption, but it does not protect from staining. The ANSI specification for a polymer modified grout still has a water absorption of 5-7%. Who's ever grout, if it is cement based and polymer modified it should still be sealed once it has cured, usually 72 hours.

No problems whatsoever. 3rd (master) shower I used Polyblend sanded grout in Oyster Gray #386 again. Here's where my problems began. I did the walls one day. Just got off the phone with CBP. He stated that one can expect up to a 20% shade difference in their grout products, with an additional 20% if you experience efflorescence. He is sending me Grout Renew at no charge. He said that it is necessary to prepare the grout joints by scrubbing with sulfamic acid, even though it is new, unsealed grout.
