For bait fishing, I use sand crabs and a bobber and leader setup. Most reef fish in the East Cape hang around the rocks and don’t venture often into the sandy areas. Just got back from Loreto. We flew Volaris out of TJ. We had a 8-1/2' tube and 6-fully loaded reels on our checked baggage. Paid an extra Sport fee for the rod tube $46 I think. No issues. You can not carry on loaded reels.
Fly Volaris, look for deals, I have flown for under $200 round trip to La Paz. I have been doing this for nearly 40 years and brought hundreds, maybe thousands of pounds of fish home this way. I live about 5 hours from the border and fish always makes it home frozen solid.
