Nov 2, 2011. 0. #1. Both are variations of the same solid opening, Two Knights Defence. Fried Liver attacks the black king by sacrificing a knight, while the Lolli Attack forces a pawn. Which do you prefer? I like Lolli Attack, as it isn't as risky.
Here's what generally happens: The Two Knights Defense is one of many responses Black has against the Italian, and in response, White has the optional 4.Ng5, leading into the Fried Liver or Lolli Attacks, both of which can be avoided retroactively or proactively by Black of course.
