The Philippine five-peso coin (₱5) is the third-largest denomination of the coins of the Philippine peso.. As a tribute to the 154th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio, the first coin to be released was the new silver-colored 5-peso coin featuring Bonifacio on the obverse, replacing Emilio Aguinaldo. The reverse features the Tayabak plant and the new BSP logo. [10] The rest of the NGC coin series were presented on March 26, 2018. [11]
The design of the obverse was later revised, the font for the text Republika ng Pilipinas and Limang Piso was changed, the color of the portrait of Bonifacio was changed from brown to green and geometric lines were added on the sides and the watermark area of the bill. This design was later used when the Bagong Lipunan series was released in 1973.
