Peterborough City Hospital: This is a 623-bed acute general district hospital, managed by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. [ 1 ] The Cavell Centre: this is a purpose-built unit, which provides secure in-patient and day services for adults with mental health problems and people with learning disabilities.
In 1889, Peterborough's town council approved plans for the construction of a new market hall. The building was to replace an earlier market hall on Water Street built in 1851. The cornerstone was laid on 26 November 1889 by Mayor James Stevenson. The hall was constructed by Thomas Rutherford at a cost of $11,000. [3]
The centre also has refreshment areas and a student support centre, which includes a Student Union space. The Peterborough Campus is housed in a dedicated building which is situated opposite the main campus of Peterborough College. Most of the higher education courses previously offered by the college are now located within the University Centre.
