The Church of the Redeemer is the oldest Moravian Church building in Kingston, Jamaica, and houses a congregation of the Jamaican province of the Moravian Church. It was opened in 1918. St. Joseph's Teachers' College is a Roman Catholic teacher training college in Kingston, Jamaica. It was founded in 1897 by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, a religious order in the Roman Catholic Church in Jamaica. The college campus contains dormitories to accommodate students from more distant areas.
The archdiocese was originally called the Vicariate Apostolic of Jamaica when it was erected in 1837. [1] In 1956, it became Diocese of Kingston and included all of Jamaica. [ 1 ] In September 1967, two suffragans were split from the diocese and the diocese was elevated to an archdiocese.
