Lake Adelaide is a 109-acre (0.44 km 2) lake located in the northwest corner of Highlands County, Florida.It is bounded on the north by Holiday Ranch RV Park, which borders the Polk-Highlands County line, on the east by Adelaide Shores RV Resort and on the west by the Avon Park Lakes residential subdivision.
Many of the houses on the west side date back perhaps to the 1920s. Almost all the houses have private boat docks or ramps on the lake's shore. Directly to the east is U.S. Highway 27 and a fourth mile to the south is Avon Park, Florida and Stryker Boulevard. To the north is the vacant Lake Byrd Shores housing development.
Avon Park Lakes (APL) is a residential community of about 2,500 people in northwest Highlands County, Florida. [1] It is bounded by Polk County, Florida, on the north and Hardee County, Florida, on the west. On the northeast it is bounded by Lake Adelaide.
The community is located on the west bank of the Kissimmee River, south of Florida State Road 60. [1] Some of the community is occupied by the Westgate River Ranch Resort, a cowboy-themed resort. There is an ownership RV park adjacent to the resort, though it has no affiliation with Westgate.
