The Milan–Verona high-speed railway is an Italian 165-kilometre (103-mile) long high-speed railway line, that is partly open and partly under construction to connect Milan with Verona. The route operates through the regions of Lombardy and Veneto .
Opened in 1854, it forms part of the Milan–Venice railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company

The first Milano Centrale station opened in 1864 in the area now occupied by the Piazza della Repubblica, south of the modern station. [6] It was designed by French architect Louis-Jules Bouchot [7] (1817–1907) and its architectural style was reminiscent of Parisian buildings of that period.
