George L. Wainwright Jr. (born December 10, 1943) is a former Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Born in Wilson County, North Carolina, Wainwright earned a degree in political science as a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before working in agribusiness and real estate in Wilson, North Carolina for over 15 years.
From 1990 to 2000, he was a member of Hill, Wyatt & Bannister in Greenville. In 2000, he started Hill & Hill, LLC with his father. From 2004 to 2017, he served as a resident circuit judge for the Thirteenth Circuit. [2] In 2016, he was one of five candidates to fill a vacancy on the court of appeals. [5]
