Belleville Township covers an area of 59.74 square miles (154.7 km 2) and contains two incorporated settlements: Chautauqua and Peru. According to the USGS, it contains seven cemeteries: Booth, Findley, Marshall, McClarney, Oak Grove, Oak Hill and Peru. The streams of Harper Creek, Otter Creek and Possum Trot Creek run through this township.
The 2020 United States census counted 2,007 people, 919 households, and 490 families in Belleville. [ 10 ] [ 11 ] The population density was 976.2 per square mile (376.9/km 2 ). There were 1,157 housing units at an average density of 562.7 per square mile (217.3/km 2 ).
Belleville has been the county seat since 1869. The courthouse was built from 1938 to 1939 by Peterson Construction Company of Salina, Kansas. Architects Mann & Company of Hutchinson, Kansas designed the courthouse in the Art Deco style. The courthouse is located on spacious landscaped grounds, three to four stories, and faces west.
Lake Wissota State Park is a 1,062-acre (430 ha) Wisconsin state park near the town of Chippewa Falls. The park is situated on the northeast shore of Lake Wissota, a reservoir on the Chippewa River.
