It was created in 1930 and represents tyre wholesalers, retailers, mobile tyre fitters and fast fit companies across the UK. It also has supplier members that include leading tyre manufacturers, retreaders, repairers and end of life tyre collectors and automotive aftermarket companies.
As well as retail, it operates a wholesale division, which supplies in excess of 6 million tyres a year [2] to its 2,500 plus wholesale customers. Previous owner Tony Todd, since selling the company in 2006, was ranked 782nd in the Times Rich List, 2011. [3] As at November 2023 Protyre operates more than 180 branches across the UK. [4]
It has around 100 service centres across the UK. [2] The company headquarters are at Trident Court on the 148-acre Birmingham Business Park, around a half-mile south-west of junction 4 of the M6, accessed from the A452. This is also the headquarters of Dunlop Tyres UK, which moved to the site in May 2017.
