The Slusser-Ryan Farm is a historic farm at 2028 Mount Tabor Road in rural Montgomery County, Virginia, about 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Blacksburg.The main farm complex includes a house whose core elements are log structures built beginning in 1855, and later enlarged with frame structures.
Slusser worked as an art critic for the Boston Herald from 1913 to 1915, and the New York Herald from 1921 to 1923. [1] [3] The University of Michigan Museum of Art, where Slusser served as the director from 1946 to 1957. He was known to write letters back and forth with the artist William H. Littlefield. [3]

Lewis Slusser was born on January 21, 1820, at his family farm in Canton, Ohio, to Nancy (née Dewalt) and John Slusser. His father was from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and served in the War of 1812 and worked as a cabinet maker. [1] [2] Slusser grew up in Canton and attended public schools.
