Montpelier (also Crosstown, LaCross) is an unincorporated community in Clay County, Mississippi, United States. [2] It is located along Mississippi Highway 46 in the northwestern part of the county. The community contains West Clay Elementary School. [3] A post office first began operation under the name Montpelier in 1853. [4]
From 1935 to 1942, the Mississippi Health Project was active for about two to six weeks in the summer. Mobile medical units in poverty-stricken areas were sent to rural African-American populations.
